About The Author

An Indiana native, author Dave Pruet is definitely an avid outdoorsman, but there is a lot more to him than just that. He is also a Christian, Husband, Father, Son, Friend, Widower, Certified Thanatologist, Business Owner, Author, Professional Musician, GriefCare Counselor, Sunday School Teacher, Percussion Instructor, Trap/Skeet shooter, Soccer Referee, Baseball Umpire, Sports Trainer, Youth Group Leader, Licensed Taxidermist, Soccer Dad, Dance Dad, HS Band Booster, Fisherman, Hunter, MADD lifetime member and spokesperson, Adult Education Leader, and a ‘Green Bay Packers’ football team stockholder.

Dave and his wife Donna, have two teen-aged children, Kayla and Kevin. Dave is one of 3 siblings born to parents from Rushville, Indiana and grew up in the booming college town of Bloomington, Indiana – home of the Indiana University Hurryin’ Hoosiers.

Always up for a challenge, Dave also holds 3 separate college degrees; is on the Executive Board of the Indiana Bowhunters Association (IBA); and just recently accepted the V.P. position of his neighborhood's Homeowner's Association - this in itself may prove to be more of a sacrificial offering than just a personal challenge - ha!

But his most challenging effort of all was, as previously mentioned, when he Co-Founded the Monroe County Chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) after his 26 year old wife Tina, and 5 year old son Eddie, were both senselessly killed by the irresponsible negligence of a drunk driver in August of 1989. Currently, he is completing an autobiography/self-help book titled, “Standing In The Rain” which is due for release in the Fall of 2010. Dave also is on track to completing 3 more books in the near future which will compliment his hunting series' first release, "Deer Hunting 101".

Dave has achieved many goals in his own life, but his new-found passion is writing. With his writings, Dave hopes to be able to help those that are unaware of certain areas of life that he has experienced, and alleviate them any unnecessary steps to reach specific goals of their own.

Dave’s books are written for the use of learning; healing; and moving forward in life, and can be found at his online website: http://www.booksbydave.com/ where you may purchase them for yourself.

Why I write

Posted: 11/05/2006

The first thing that comes to mind is that writing has provided many opportunities and opened doors that I have always been interested in walking through. My books, "Standing In The Rain", an autobiography/self-help style, and a series of Outdoorsman self-help books beginning with those already published, "Deer Hunting 101" and "Bass Fishing 101", have claimed an inward evaluation of just who I am and what I am about. They have challenged me to ask the question, "What, in my life, can I share with those around me to help them understand and move forward in their own life's challenges and quests?"

"Standing In The Rain" is a book that deals with the many trials, tribulations, as well as tragedies that I was forced to endure early on in life, as well as how I have dealt with and continue to deal with these blows to conquer the burden of grief that has been delivered with each one.

The Outdoorsman series is a series of books aimed at the beginning or novice outdoorsman, to allow them a 'leg up' on the sport covering what all is involved in the sport and why we enjoy it so. They also provide them with the essential necessities of language, ethics and overall logistics to the sport.

"Deer Hunting 101" has done very well ranking as high as 9,422 on Amazon.com making it the #1 selling deer hunting book in their arsenal. It has also created interest among some very prominent Outdoors Supply Stores.

"Bass Fishing 101" has just been released and should do very well also and will most likely have the same type of interest across the nation/globe.

The other books in the series are right behind, with the next one due for release in the Fall of 2010 - that one being "Turkey Hunting 101". These books have opened many other doors for me as well as I have been sought out and contracted to speak at various Outdoorsman seminars, trade shows, and sportsman banquets on the topic, "Introducing New Hunters Into The Wild." I actually spoke at one here recently alongside of M.R. James - world-reknown hunter, author, and current President of the Pope and Young Club. We were billed as being experts in the field of training and hunting and spoke on topics along these lines. Along with these speaking engagements, I am also afforded booth space where I hold booksignings and answer questions about my book and the publishing industry. So if you have questions, drop me a line at davepruet@gmail.com and let me help you today!
